This incident occurred in Brooklyn, MN, where an officer made a stop on a vehicle and the driver had a felony warrant. You can see in the video the officer was by himself during the confrontations, which shows the importance to have backup coming before going hands on in most situations. We realize there are some areas where backup might be 30 min away. This also demonstrates the importance of defensive tactics training on a regular basis. The suspect even begins to apply the vascular neck restraint to the officer, which is why we teach defenses to this technique. The officer did a good job of yelling for help and alerting neighbors to the situation. We are glad our brother was able to fight his way out of this incident, but we think its also important to talk about how we can avoid being in this situation.
